Online dental plans........ do they work?

I want to purchase a dental plan online for my family. We already do have dental insurance through my husbands work but it doesn't cover anything "major". How do these plans work? I've done research but want to know from some of you that have used it. Do you pay the full price of a procedure and then get reimbursed? Thank you for a detailed answers.

Online dental plans........ do they work?
If you have been shopping for dental or medical coverage for you and your family you may have come across a variety of different and sometimes confusing programs. Whether you are searching for medical or dental coverage there are basically two options to choose from including traditional insurance plans and discount health programs.

Medical or dental discount programs are not actually insurance. Discount dental and medical benefits provide their members with discounts on dental and medical treatment through participating network providers. Members pay a fee to participate in exchange for discounts that can range from 10-80% off regular prices. The leading discount dental provider is Ameriplan USA®. The medical and dental providers contract with the program to only charge members based on these discounts. The members benefit from reduced fees and the providers benefit from the exposure to the membership pool. Because this is not an insurance contract program there are no exclusions for pre-existing conditions or limitations on treatment. Ameriplan® offers a low monthly membership fee for discount dental services, no forms to fill out, and a wide network of quality dentists for you to choose from.

AmeriPlan has a Dental Plan for only 19.95 a month and includes up to 20 people in one household - related or not. All you do is pay the discounted price that AmeriPlan has set and you can save up to 80% off. You

Hope this helps!

Reply:I have Careington and it is pretty reasonable. The dentists in the network charge you discounted prices. If a procedure normally costs $100, they may give it you for $25. You must pay for the procedures at the dentist's office upfront. It is not insurance, so you are not reimbursed for the procedure. You are receiving discounts on the dental procedures and must pay the entire discounted price. Careington has a full price list on their website so that you can see upfront the costs of the procedures.
Reply:Yes, I have it.

I would encourage you to visit

I signed up on-line about 3 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars over the years with a very affordable plan. From Root canals, extractions, exams, xrays...etc. All services are included. They had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the same day. Hope this helps ease the blow of cost. Good Luck.

Dental insurance vs dental plans?

I have to go to the dentist and possibly have some work done on my teeth. I want to get some sort of insurance or a dental plan to help me pay because i know its going to cost a arm and a leg.

So does anyone know anything about dental plans? from what i read they are a lot better than insurance? and they seem cheaper too? but this seems too good to be true! so does anyone have one or know anything about them?

i was told to go here..

i dont get what the difference is between discount plans and fee for service discount plans? how will i know which one im getting? and making sure im not being ripped off??

Dental insurance vs dental plans?
You need to be cautious about any dental plan. You will want to contact some of the dentist on the list to make sure they are taking the plan. If no list is provided consider it a scam.

Discount plans just give you a discount on the normal fee that a dentist will charge. There is no control over what the discount is. Very few dentist will actually accept a discount plan.

A fee-for-service discount plan has a schedule of fees that a participating dentist can charge, so you know before going in how much the charge will be, similar to the co-pay on your health insurance. These plans also publish this schedule so you will know what to expect before purchasing the plan.

With both plans no waiting period applies. Not so with regular dental insurance. With insurance there will be a waiting period before some procedures are covered. A typical plan will have a 6 month waiting period for basic services such as a filling to 18 months for major services such as a root canal. They also have a deductible and co-insurance that you will need to pay.
Reply:Discount plans are a SCAM. Some fee for service plans are quite good, but I feel as though there is no substitute for a comprehensive dental plan. Most dental plans Do have waiting periods, and as a result, often get a bad rep, but here is an affordable plan that has NO waiting periods for anything and lets you see any dentist you want. Additionally, it has a high annual maximum, and you only have to meet the $100 deductible one time for as long as you're on the plan, not every year.

Check out http://www.BestForLessDental.com and see if the plan fits your needs. There is a phone number on there as well that you can call if you have questions and need to talk to a live person.
Reply:I work for a dental insurance company...that is the way to go. If you don't have one offered thru your employer try your local chamber of commerce. They often have a group plan you can get in on.

Dental plans?

i'm trying to get braces? i'm look for a dental insurance or plan, that will save me money. anyone have ideas i prefer advice frome people who've actually had to get a a plan for dental cost. any of them cover those invisialign braces. thank you.

Dental plans?
Sorry, Spongebob, but dental insurance DOES cover Invisalign the same way they would traditional braces. If the policy has an orthodontic benefit, Invisaling will be covered subject to the same provisions.

Unfortunately, you are asking for an individual plan and you won't find one. So called "dental discount plans" such as Ameriplan and others will not help you. No orthodontist will be willing to write off 25% to 50% of their fees when there are plenty of patients willing to pay full fee. The costs alone will run the dentist over 70% of what they charge - so there is no way to deliver the product for a 50% reduction.

You can look into financing through Care Credit or Dental Fee Plan. Both of those are usually offered through the dental office.

You might save substantial $$$ by seeking Invisalign from a well qualified general dentist, rather than an orthodontist.
Reply:Most companies don't fully pay for braces. Most plans offer a certain amount for orthodontic work. Unfortunately, it's not usually that much that's offered. Ours covers $1,000 per person for life, which isn't much if braces are needed, but better than nothing. (That's with an Aetna Dental Plan.) We used to have Delta Dental, which we liked. I don't remember how much they offered to pay towards orthodontic work.

You'll have to investigate plans. If you are working, you may not have a choice of which dental plan may be offered (if they even offer it.) You can possibly (again, if your work offers it) put money aside (pre-tax) to be used for medical costs not paid by insurance. It's a spending plan that some companies offer. Again, you can look into that.

Hope that helps a little.

Good luck.
Reply:Most are not going to cover invisalign ( I haven't seen any that do.) Some insurances have waiting periods, you will end up paying them what you will have to pay to get the braces most of the time. See about some of the payment plans most ortho offices offer. Many times there is 1-2 years no interest. Pay it off in that time and save yourself some money. Dental insurance is almost a joke right now. Dental supplies have gotten more expensive, thus dental prices have gotten more expensive, but insurances have not raised coverage or maximums.
Reply:well the company i work for offers excellent affordable discount dental plans and they even include vision, prescription and chiropractic for only $11.95 a month. its not an insurance but you can save up to 80% on dental and orthodontic (braces etc) are part of the plan. if you'd like info on this email me

Dental Plans?

Anyone have any experiences with Dental Plans? I don't have dental insurance and I probably need to have a fixed bridge or something for my four front teeth. I don't have a lot of money.

Dental Plans?
You have four options with dental.

1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you.

2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans.

3. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health %26amp; dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... concerning these plans.

4. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you, which you know before getting the procedure done. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404.

I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo... specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.
Reply:get sum insurance

then wait a yr

then they will hav 2 pay for it
Reply:With Ameriplan, you can save up to 80% at the dentist. The plan is only $11.95/month and includes free vision, prescription, and chiropractic plans. You can read more about it at the site listed below.
Reply:My family has saved a lot on the dental plan that we have.

I can help you to get the same plan.

You can save a lot of money with this.

Dear MzC,I hope that i could be of some help to you.My son %26amp; I are advocates of consumer-driven healthcare. We market discounted,non-traditional insurance benefits. We offer dental,vision,prescription,%26amp; chiropractic coverages. It is a great plan for those who are non-insured %26amp; under-insured.There are 45 million Americans who are uninsured,7 out of 10 people need dental coverage alone.Healthcare is a major issue today,%26amp; if you are waiting for it to be reformed in the future,it is "iffy" that it will. Why? because their is already too much moneytied up with doctors'%26amp; drug companies.
Reply:We have Ameriplan dental and we love it. We get great savings at the dentist and also get vision, Rx, and chiropractic on the same plan. The website where you can check on providers and sign up is http://www.MyBestDentalBenefits.com

Hope this helps you.
Reply:Unless your employer provides dental insurance there is no easy way of getting it on your own. Dental insurance is usually provided by the big corporates to their employees as benefits.

So, if you need some kind of discount for your dental treatment then the next best option is to get a dental discount plan. These membership based cards offer discounts on all treatments if you go to a dentist on the panel of dental plan you choose to buy. They will have a schedule of fees that you can check before you buy that particular plan option.

Dental Plans is an online company that has been around for many years and has built a great reputation for being top in the dental discount plans and providing quality service.
