my boyfriend is in desperate need of dental work. he needs surgery to aline his jaw, and crowns, and fillings. you name it the boy needs it. its killing me to watch his teeth wear away. he wont brush them because they are too painful to touch. the problem is he isnt on any kind of dental plans, since his ever so nice parents kicked them off of theirs. he is 19 years old, and cant get coverage through his work, and ive searched for other plans but they wont cover him until he is 21. does anyone know what is the best way to get him dental insurance. im willing to pay whatever it takes to get this done for him, but he needs aprox 10-15000 worth of work so a good plan would realy help. thank you for any ideas. it would really help.
Dental coverage?
Yes--I do. As a matter of fact there is a discounted Health Benefits program that he can get. The dental plan is only $19.95 per month and with it he also gets vision, prescription and chiropractic. There is no limit on visits or services. ongoing dental problems are accepted, except dental and orthodontic treatments in progress. Instant savings. No age limit No paperwork and no waiting period he can use his card as soon as he gets it. He can even go to a specialist if needed and he can change dentists. Need more info please contact me.
Reply:Visit my site for information on dental benefits starting at 19.95 and will give you coverage right away so he can get that work done. As soon as you enroll contact me so i can walk you through how to use your benefits. www.mybenefitsplus.com/fatimah Report It
Reply:I wonder if he could get some help at your county health department. I really don't know if he could, but it might be worth a try.
Good luck!
Reply:The first thing your boyfriend should do is see a dentist, have a full mouth series of x-rays and have a full new patient examination, just to see where all the problems are. Depends where u live, but here in Canada, there are private insurances, but they are very expensive and the coverage is pretty shitty. He can get dental work done at the dental school, but the appointments are long, very long, because every step the students make, the dental instructor has to check it. He has to be "accepted" as an interesting patient. The fees are pretty cheap, just to cover the materials. He can get a good cleaning by the dental hygiene students as well, for free, or just a few bucks. Is there any way u can speak with the parents and tell them the issue, so maybe he can get back on theirs? Also, many insurances won't cover a child if they are on their own and working. Many will cover a full time student up to the age of 25. He has to get dental work or he will lose all his teeth due to periodontal disease. Good luck with things.

Need a oral suregon but i dont have dental insurance does anyone know any oral surgeons have payment plans?
Not knowing where you live, I can't give you the name of someone in particular. What you can do is check with dental universities in your area. Most of them have dental clinics that are very low cost and accept payment plans.
Reply:I would check out the dental school at the University of Maryland at Baltimore: http://www.dental.umaryland.edu/
They have an Oromaxillofacial Surgery department, and the fees charged at the dental school are usually lower than that of a private dentist or oral surgeon.
Hope this helps!
Reply:Specialists often do not accept payment plans, because they do not establish a long-term relationship with a patient. You see them maybe once or twice in a lifetime, so they don't know you.
Also, dentists are not banks. They are not set up to loan money, run credit checks, collect on default payments, or figure interest. Financial institutions do that and most of them don't pull teeth.
You can apply for credit from companies like Care Credit or Dental Fee Plan. Both of these places specialize in health care loans, leaving the dentist to do professional stuff.

Why doesn't most health insurance plans or company welfare covers dental surgery costs?
Too expensive. What if you had surgery, then you got an infection, a serious one? The health unsurance plans in America stink royally. We the payers are getting the short end of the stick for the large Insurance bill. Really good insurance comes from your local farm bureau. Check them out!
Why doesn't most health insurance plans or company welfare covers dental surgery costs?
Really? Is that true? My company insurance covers dental surgery.
Reply:I think your referring to implants, or partials, etc, how they pay next to nothing. It is because they view it as cosmetic.
Reply:they use to but now they have cut out a lot of the programs... so now it is harder on those at low income or poverty level...perhaps you might try and see if there is a free clinic there where you live.. if not then you best start saving money for you can get the work you need done...i know they even cut out buying glasses now.. i had to buy my last pair myself...if you are well known where you live you may find a dentist that will let you pay on payments...you can try and call around and see at least.. contact your local welfare office and see if they have any helpful advice for you.....
Reply:My son had oral surgery and the insurance didn't pay... well.. it was ordered by the orthodontist and I think they paid some nominal amount that came to about 10% or even less.
The reason.. simple. Insurance companies are in the business of making money, not paying out money. There are actuaries that work out the statistics and do risk calculations all day long and if something isn't covered, then it's because either too many people require the procedure (volume cost), because the market price for the procedure is too high, because it is elective, and foremost because there is not enough gvmt regulation (thanks to Reagan) and therefore they can get away with it. Health and dental insurance is a for-profit-business, not welfare.

Dental insurance??does anyone know of any cheap/good plans?
Hi! I just used dentalplans.com. It was great. You just have to make sure before you buyit that the dentist accepts it. Sometimes the website isn't up to date.
Mine did. I had to have 3 teeth pulled. It cost me right around $345. Without they wanted to charge me like $580. So I paid $100 for the plan and then saved a little over $200. I have to go back for other things too so I will save way more in the long run.
I did ALOT of research before I bought it and I think It worked great for me Now keep in mind it isn't INSURANCE it is a savings plan. Make sure to ask dentist what price is with and with out it! I did, but my dentist was outstanding so they were very honest with me. I just had it done yesterday.....so I feel your pain!
Reply:1. There is no such thing as cheap (or good) dental insurance. Mostly, it's an "employee benefit," which was fine when the employer paid for it, but if the employee has to pay the premium, it's probably not worth it.
2. I get a kick out of you! If you were an insurer, would you write fire insurance on a burning building?
Reply:There is no such thing as a good/cheap dental policy or plan. The old adage "you get what you pay for" holds true for this. Some dental policies have a 6 month waiting period for any major work, so before you buy into anything make sure you know what you are buying. Your best cheapest way is to pay for the root canals and skip the cheap/good policies.
Reply:Good news: There is huge selection of dentists
and prices available out there, you just need to
shop around for the best service at the reasonable
price!!
A couple of plans that will help you with the price,
as far as quality of service, you will have to judge
for yourself. Visit their offices, see how they
treat you. If you like'em, keep'em.

Is there a way that I can add my mother to my employer's group health plan and dental plan?
I'm trying to find out if there is a way that I can add my mother to my employer group health and dental plan?
Is there a way that I can add my mother to my employer's group health plan and dental plan?
You probably can but adding people to your insurance is normally very expensive especially if they are not your spouse or kids. Premiums tend to run very high in that case. Also some insurances won't let you add people unless they are actual dependents in your household.
I hope this helps.
Reply:you would need to ask your insurer, usually, if she is disabled and not working, and living with you, then they will add her to your coverage.
Reply:Talk to your HR department at your work. I'm sure you can add her, but it will cost extra.
Reply:I dont think so. Most employer insurance plans do not include extended family, just spouse, kids and/or stepkids.

Do all dentists accept cash, credit cards, or checks if they are not covered by your dental plan?
My dentist and I no longer get along because he doesn't listen to my wishes or respect my financial situation. I can't find any good dentist close to where I live who is covered by my dental plan. I'm thinking of switching to a dentist closest to where I live who is not covered by my dental plan that I got through my job. I'm thinking of paying full price by cash, credit, or check. Which of the three is the best one or does it matter?
Do all dentists accept cash, credit cards, or checks if they are not covered by your dental plan?
The oral surgeon I work for accepts credit cards/cash/checks/money orders. We do not have a preference on what type you use. Do you have out of network benefits? If you do the insurance should still pay on the procedure just not as much as if you went to a network provider.
Good Luck!!
Reply:Im sure the dentist would prefer payment by plastic as it is guaranteed and means he does not have to keep lots of cash on his premisies!
Reply:Every dentist I have seen over the years and my current dentist accept all forms of payment.
I just cannot see why you would go to a dentist that you have to pay full price out of your pocket when you have insurance.. Surely there must be a dentist on your plan who is good enough..
Reply:Dentists, like any other small businessman, are free to accept any kind of payment they wish. If they don't know you, they may be hesitant about taking a personal check. They may not want to accept credit/debit cards because it involves more paperwork and they have to kick back a percentage to the card company.
Most are loathe to accept the insurance company's plan because they have little competition, ergo little incentive to charge less. Most reasonable dentists will bill your insurance (assuming you have dental coverage) and then expect you to pay the difference whatever it is.
Frankly, if you have (had?) a good dentist, you were better off paying the difference. Normally, if your insurance includes dental (which you say it does) they will cover a certain percentage of the bill even if you have to submit it to the insurance company yourself no matter which dentist does the work. Discuss this with your HR person.
Reply:Just hand over your wallet or purse on the way in and say "help yourself". Don't worry about collecting it on the way out.
Reply:Trust me, as long as they get paid for their work, they don't care how you pay it: cash, credit card, debit card, check, or your insurance.
The only deal with the checks though is, many dentists have the machines that let them run it through immediatly, so for a person who is wanting to write a check in hopes that their paycheck gets deposited by the time the check clears, that may not be the best option.

Is it typical to have to pay high out of pocket expenses for dental work even with a good ins. plan?
I have a decent dental plan (Principal Dental plan) through my job but every time I go to the dentist, they bill me about as much as they get from the insurance claim. Some people have told me they are being dishonest and others have said this is typical. My new dentist does the same procedures but I only pay a small amount (20 or so) on a $200.00 bill. I know with MD bills, we don't have to pay the difference between the doctors billing amount and what the insurance company pays. Does the same apply to dental work?
Is it typical to have to pay high out of pocket expenses for dental work even with a good ins. plan?
Depends, most dental insurance will pay 100% of cleaning/x-rays/dr. exam and checkup fees as long as that dentist is a provider of your insurance. If he simply files the insurance and is not a provider he can charge you the difference between his fees and the insurance fees. Example cleaning at dentist $60 but insurance agreement price for a PPO is $45 so he can only charge that but if he only files you insurance he can charge the difference. Otherwise it is illegal if he has been charging extra for things covered !00% and he is PPO for your insurance. Also, many insurances cover only 50% of major things like crowns and root canals leaving a heafty split for you to pay and 80% for basic things like fillings and then you have the copay. Bottom line is dental insurance doesn't actually pay that well for what you pay but it is also possible you are getting screwed. You get a copy of the insurance statement in the mail that tells what they paid them, what the services costed, and what your part should be if he is a PPO for your insurance things should not differ from this statement.
Reply:Its around 60 to 80% coverage for normal premiums...
Reply:There are a lot of factors in determining dental insurance premiums...Also depends on the procedure being done becuase each one is cover at a different Percentage and some insurance companies have what are called allowences on what they will pay the dentist and the office can chose to except it or not...And some offices may make the patient pay their share of cost and the difference of what the insurance company will pay and what the office charges for that certin procedure....Hope this was helpfull...Good Luck
Reply:If the dentist you are going to is "out of network" with your insurance company they will not write off the difference your insurance doesn't pay. So you need to make sure the dentist you are seeing is "in network" with your insurance company. If they are you may have a small co-pay but you shouldn't have outrageous amounts, unless they are "out of network". You can either call you dentist and ask them if they are "in network" with you insurance company or call the insurance company and ask them if your dentist is cover by them.
Reply:Did you know they haven't updated the annual maximum on dental insurance since the 1950s? Dental prices have gone up since then, but insurance companies refuse to raise their maximum. It's not the dentists fault, it's insurance.

I signed up with them online over 3 years ago. They have helped me save thousands of dollars from extractions, root canals, cleanings. I know for a fact that all services are included especially orthodontics and cosmetic surgery for the entire family in the benefits. They had my membership active in 2 hours and was able to use the same day. I am very thankful that I found them. Check to see if they are in your area.
Good Luck. Hope this helps
Reply:Well I'm from Birmingham, AL I don't have any insurance and I went this dentist and he charged me $75 dollars to pull my wisdom tooth. You can't beat that. Try calling around to local dentist and see will they work with you. You will never know to you ask.
Reply:Do you have impacted wisdom teeth, ie, growing in sideways?
Look, if the plan is cheap, there is a reason it's cheap, it forces you to pay more of your bill.
I might suggest talking to your normal dentist about your situation. If he has to send you to an oral surgeon, that may or may not be more covered by your plan.
My two siblings and myself had our wisdom teeth extracted by oral surgeon because they were impacted. With any surgery, it gets expensive fast. You may have to save up to get the procedure done, or see if they have payment plans.
One last thing, insurance is designed for your full participation for the long term, not short term. It burns me when people join a plan, extract out more $$$ in service than they ever paid into the plan, and then drop it. That's called theft.
I had a co worker join Kaiser, had some warts removed from his feet, then tried dropping the plan. Guess what, Kaiser sent him the full bill for his procedure and he started complaining. He was disconnected from reality! Please don't fall into the same trap.

I had a co worker join Kaiser, had some warts removed from his feet, then tried dropping the plan. Guess what, Kaiser sent him the full bill for his procedure and he started complaining. He was disconnected from reality! Please don't fall into the same trap.

I think I have a cavity but my new dental plan doesn't start until November 1...?
I've never even had a cavity before but my tooth hurts when i bite down and I'm pretty sure it's a cavity. I have a great new dental plan but it doesn't go into affect for another whole month. What should I do? Should I pay the whole amount for the cavity filling or whatever...or should I tough it out? I'm pretty sure you're supposed to get them taken care of or they get a lot worse, right?
I think I have a cavity but my new dental plan doesn't start until November 1...?
Go to the pharmacy like cvs they sell a product i can't remember the name of it but its used to fill in the hole inside your tooth just temporarily until you go to the dentist
Reply:Nurse it along with Hydrogen Peroxide, use instructions on the bottle, till your insurance takes affect.
Reply:You can wait it out, it will be sore but alot cheaper.
Reply:It will be fine, just brush regularly, floss, and mouth wash.
If the cavity isn't that bad then it shouldn't get all that worse in one month. Just take good care of your mouth and you definitely can wait it out.
Reply:Just get it filled, because it doesn't cost much!
Reply:Until your plan kicks in, You're
going to have to dig in your pocket
do it now, before the infection spreads

Does anyone know where I can find a discount dental plan??
My employer does not offer dental insurance, and I have a horrible cavity that needs to be folled, and I dont think I can afford to pay for it all, I need some kind of discount plan or card. Can anyone help????
Does anyone know where I can find a discount dental plan??
You have four options with dental.
1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you and actually they do a very good job.
2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. Visit a local independent agent for help finding a plan.
3. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health %26amp; dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... concerning these plans.
4. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404.
I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo... specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.
Reply:I am don't know about all or majority of dentists, HOWEVER I get one of those plans and my dentist has eccepted ALL the disounts. I've saved over 1000$ on root canals alone [something like almost 50%] on ALL my dental procedures so far. I don't sell it this is from personal ex. Report It
Reply:so to say a dentis who participates 'may give one a 10 percent discount if that' is BS!! Report It
Reply:Sure I can help you.. My family uses Ameriplan. You can save ALOT of money with them and it is on a monthly basis. So if your not happy you can cancel.... Please look at http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/salpino

Choose a dental discount plan that is local to your area, that has a dentist near you who is willing to accept it and that offers substantial discounts on the treatment you are seeking.
Apart from this you have following options.
2. For really cheap treatment but reasonable quality care find a dental school near you, register with them if they will take you as patient and get the work done.
3. If that doesn't work out get yourself to your local county hospital. Most have a dentist attached and you will get good quality care for almost free or for a nominal fee.
4.Option 4 is talking it out with your dentist, ask him what is the basic minimum that he will charge. Tell him you don't have dental insurance and will he take you up with out one. Many dentists prefer treating patients this way as they don't have to deal with dental insurance companies and getting paid after a lot of paper work. You can also plan out treatment over the course of year so you can pay the money over a longer period.
5. Option 5: It is something I discovered recently. Border towns in Mexico are offering dental treatment at less than one fourth what it costs in the States. You can travel to these towns and get treated. I can't give you
6. Option 6: Explore whether you can get treated in another country like India, Romania, Eastern European countries. They have good quality medical centers that treat you at less than 1/10 th of what it costs here. But you have to figure travelling and accomodation charges and also food and distruption at work and home. But you get a free holiday thrown in!
But of course if you need just a cavity to filled than the last 2 options are not cost effective. But you can try them out if you need a large amount of dental care.

Reply:I'm sorry to say, there are no good individual dental plans. An insurance company must take in more in premiums than they pay out per year to be profitable. They can do this in a group, but it makes no sense to offer coverage for an individual.
Beware of so-called "dental discount plans." The state of Montana sued Ameriplan and won on charges of insurance fraud. Many dentists don't take these plans, and the ones that do often "bait and switch" in order to make up for deep discounts.
You'd be better off finding a financing plan such as Dental Fee Plan or Care Credit.

Can I cover my fiancee under an employer dental plan?
I don't want to ask HR if this is a no-brainer and embarass myself, but I've been living with my gf for 2 years now, and we're engaged (waiting to be in a better financial spot so we can do a proper wedding), but she doesn't have dental. Under a typical plan, could I cover her, or do we have to be married?
Thanks!
Can I cover my fiancee under an employer dental plan?
Normally, no - but it is possible.
Most employers only cover spouses and dependants (usually minor children under some specified age - 24 if they are still in school.) However, there have been some employers (number is going up) who will cover non-related persons in a household if certain requirements are met. The requirements vary by employer, but usually at a minimum you have to provide documentation that the non-related person has been living in your household (at the same mailing address) for 12 consecutive months. Employers have been allowing this option to cover same-sex partners, but language in these provisions cannot exclude opposite sex partners because of non-discrimination requirements mandated by Title 7. One employer that I know of that offers such benefits is Harris Bank - a subsidary of the Bank of Montreal.
However, such expansion of benefits coverage is at the discretion of each individual employer. You will need to read your summary plan description to identify if you work for such an employer. Ask your employer (HR) for a copy of the dental plan's summary plan description and look under the coverage and eligibility section.
As a side note, you may have to wait until your open enrollment period to cover her, that is if you employer plan allows it at all, since most plans do not allow you to change your coverage status unless a major life change has occurred - i.e., marriage, birth of a child, change in employment status, etc.
As for one of the above answers stating that you can cover domestic partners - again this is not mandatory. An employer does not have to cover a domestic partner. There is no law that such a benefit must be provided regardless of how you file your taxes.
Reply:typically if it is a group insurance offered by your employer...they do not allow fiance's to be covered on your insurance. I know I could not get insurance for my now husband while he was just my fiance'. We had to wait to get married in order for them to offer coverage.
Reply:go ahead and embarass yourself. HR is the best source to ask. They'll give you a definitive yes or no. Since you are engaged, I'd be surprised if they said no. She may get coverage, but limited coverage until you two are married.
Congrats and good luck.
Dave
Reply:Normally, yes. Probally will cost alittle extra. Like 50 bucks a month.
my website is http://www.tbirdsonline.com if you care.
Reply:Short answer is no you can't cover her. The reason that HR is there, is so you can ask questions. Don't ever feel stupid going to them to ask, it's their job.
Reply:If you claim her as a domestic partner, you can put her on your insurance. You will also need to file taxes in that way. I would talk to HR about it, but you will also need to talk to your accountant. You can do it, though. Especially if you are engaged.
Reply:I am in HR myself...and this might depend on your company's plan, but it may just be a straightforward policy from what I've seen. Basically you can add a spouse or domestic partner and/or children - other than that you are out of luck. Unless you and your fiance' file for a domestic partnership, which is almost the same as being married but now....you probably won't be able to add her onto the plan. That is the way our medical/dental plan works.
*However, you should note that you cannot JUST say you are in a domestic partnership - they do require legal documentation in order to prove this.
Reply:Actually, it's all going to come down to the state law of the locality in question.
Some states will allow domestic partners to be listed on each others' policies, while other states require that a couple be legally married before they can be listed.
Ask HR. It's not a silly question. However, even if she may be added, you will only have a 30-day open-enrollment period per year in which to do so (unless there is a "qualifying event", like if you two got married -- still, you'd only have 30 days after the qualifying event to make any changes also.)
Thanks!

Can you see a dentist if you don't have dental insurance or one of the discount plans?
A friend of mine doesn't have dental coverage at the moment and he needs to see a dentist right away. He has an infection/abcess and he's in a lot of pain. Is there something like an ER for dental emergencies?
--Nashville, TN
Can you see a dentist if you don't have dental insurance or one of the discount plans?
You can see them but you need to pay.
One choice is that dental schools have minimal cost care (performed by supervised students) that could help you. Look in local phone book for them.
Reply:You can certainly go and pay cash.
Otherwise, some dentists offer, I forget what it's called, but something like 'pay-as-you-can' plans. Get out the phone book and start calling dentists with that question. I live in California, and out here Western Dental, a chain, offers that program, I don't know if they have that chain where you live.
Check with your city and/or county government too, they may have subsidy programs for low-income or uninsured people.
Reply:Nashville is a big town. Check the Yellow Pages. About half of my patients do NOT have dental insurance. Insurance is not a requirement to get a dental appointment.
Reply:Sure. Many people don't have insurance. Ask the dentist what it will cost and if they have payment plans.
Reply:Some dentists are willing to work with patients on monthly payments... call all your local dentists and see if any of them offer this option.
Reply:Yes, you can do it the good old way by paying the dentist for his service, or financing such service if very costly. You can contact any dental faculty in the local u and see if they can help treat you as a demo..it might work if you do not or want not to pay.
Reply:Around here they can't deny you service. I don't have insurance either. It's costly, but the dental office was able to set up an effective repayment plan for me.
Reply:If you cannot get a dentist to treat you at a price you can afford, you should look in your phone book under "Dental Clinics". I frequently suggest this course of action to many of the people who call me and ask for help with their dental emergency.
Reply:Im not sure how it works in your state. But find some public dental sites, often I think they will help.
Im living in Seattle, Wa and there're many public dental sites that do take walk-in and ER.
OFten new patients have to go there very early iin the morning like 6:45am to be in since the whole day is for their current patients.
Anyway, the cost here is flexible and if you dont have insurance or coupon, youll need to provide the very recent 2 pay checks (copy of the attached parts), or your last year income tax. Base on that theyll charge you a very affordable cost, no matter what kind of treatmet you have (e.g., the normal cost for a specific type of treatment is $200 but when your range charge is on a level that costs $50 based on yo income, then u'll only have to pay $50 for every visit/procedure).
Hope this help,

Can you see a dentist if you don't have dental insurance or one of the discount plans?
You can see them but you need to pay.
One choice is that dental schools have minimal cost care (performed by supervised students) that could help you. Look in local phone book for them.
Reply:You can certainly go and pay cash.
Otherwise, some dentists offer, I forget what it's called, but something like 'pay-as-you-can' plans. Get out the phone book and start calling dentists with that question. I live in California, and out here Western Dental, a chain, offers that program, I don't know if they have that chain where you live.

Which is the best plan, or insurance to get for dental procedures?
I am looking to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and my brother needs cavaties removed and my sister needs braces, now which dental plan or insurance should we get? that covers all the above and is good and reliable with payments?
thanks
Which is the best plan, or insurance to get for dental procedures?
My family uses a discount plan that give you up to 80% off anything to do with your teeth. Braces I know are 56% off, which is about $2,500. This web site I beleive will give you all the details. http://www.usabenefits.org
Hope you find what your looking for.
Good Luck!

Reply:Most of the time, the only way to get really good dental coverage is through your employer. When you buy dental insurance as an individual, there are deductibles and co-pays and annual maximums that you need to analyze in order to figure out when and if you will actually save money by having insurance coverage. Some of the premiums I have seen make it almost impossible to realize any positive cash flow from the related policy. I mean, at $60 a month with $100 deductible and $1,000 annual maximum, you will have to take $820 out of your own pocket before you realize one penny of "profit" or net gain from your dental insurance. Then you have to calculate the effect of co-payements. Check the figures and do the math yourself.
Be cautious about buying or choosing a plan where you do not have any choice about the dentist you can see, because you just might not like the dentist(s) listed on the plan and then you are stuck for a year until you can get out of it.
Be cautious about buying a so-called "dental discount plan," often mentioned on Yahoo!, since they also have restrictive lists and they really are not dental insurance at all. Just be careful and understand what you are buying.
For many people who just can't get good dental insurance, a regular savings plan sort of like a Christmas Club with $20-25 a month deposited into a dedicated account will pay off when you examine the return over a lifetime. You may run way over your savings at first, but once you get your mouth straightened out, your annual expenses should not be more than a couple hundred dollars most of the time.
For major treatment, dental insurance is no great deal anyhow. They limit you to $1,000-1,500 per year, subject you to deductibles, co-pays, etc. Imagine if you were in a car accident and your carrier said, "Yep, it's a total loss. Here's a check for $1,500. Good luck coming up with enough money to buy a new car." Dental "insurance" should usually be considered a payment arrangement where you give your dollars to a large company who holds onto them until you say the secret word and manage to get a few of them back.

Does anyone know of a good dental plan for florida that is reasonably priced?
I just got my dental proposal today from BlueCross and it is nothing more than rape. They want 53 dollars in 24 payments each year and get this, I will have no major coverage for 12 months. The only thing I will have is basically extractions, full mouth x-rays and sealants all at 80%. Preventive measures such as oral exams, cleanings and flouride treatments are covered 100%. The fee is based on a family of 3 or more. I'm thinking there has to be a more competitive plan out there even without the benefit of belonging to a group. Oh and when that major coverage does kick in after 12 months, it only pays 50%. I'm laughing through my tears! Any suggestions?
Does anyone know of a good dental plan for florida that is reasonably priced?
Your problem is sadly really common. Healthcare in america is going down the tubes but there is an option. How about a dental, vision, Rx, and chiropractic plan for only $11.95/month for an individual or $19.95/month for an entire household?
NO waiting periods!
NO claim forms
NO deductibles
NO limits on visits or services
ALL on-going conditions accepted
ALL specialists included! (laser eye surgery, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics (except those already in progress) Everything!
Healthcare should be in YOUR hands not your insurance company. You CAN save BIG money everytime you see the dentist, optometrist, chiropractor or go to the pharmacy! We also have a health/medical plan if needed. The point is, this is the #1 dental benefits plan in America. It can help you, when I say $11.95/month I'm not kidding. Check it out, your plan can be used the day you sign up.

Can someone please explain me the difference between discounted dental plan and dental insurance?
Can someone please explain me the difference between discounted dental plan and dental insurance? Which one is better? I am so confused.
Thank you all. Ann.
Can someone please explain me the difference between discounted dental plan and dental insurance?
discount dental plan says "the desist will charge you less for this procedure, but you still have to pay him"
dental insurance says "we will pay the dentist this much for his services, the rest is yours to pay"
Insurance is better if you can get it, but some dentists will allow you to use both. They charge you less with the discount plan, so the insurance has less to pay and allows you to have more work done before you hit the maximum the insurance will pay per year. Talk to the dentist or office workers about it. they should be able to provide you with the best information.
Reply:A discounted dental plan is where the plan provider has contracted with certain dentists to get you a reduced cost for their services. They don't pay for any of the service. Usually, they give the dentists that sign up with them a fee for signing. Dental insurance is where the insurance company pays a portion of the cost of the service. It is contracted, so the dentist usually writes off some of the fee. Dental insurance is better.
Reply:No one here will be able to tell you specifically which plan is better without all of the details. A discounted dental plan would probably charge you for dental work - but, as it states, at a discounted price. How much of a discount is in the fine print. Read the fine print. . . . A dental insurance plan will have a deductable and/or a co-pay. How much is paid by the insurance plan will be in the fine print. Read the fine print. . . . Then compare. Work out a few examples. Consider the costs under each plan for simple dental cleaning, for a filling, or for something bigger like root canal or bridge work. What would each plan offer and what would your "out of pocket" costs be? . . . Sorry I can't be of more help, but you really have to sort this out yourself or with someone in person who can look at all the details.
Reply:A dental insurance is some company who pays your bills as for dental plan is where you can pick your own dental within your area that can pay with or without money for example like having one of those BIC cards from the government. With this card you must have a dental or medical plan within your area.
Reply:Good answers above. I caution you to be careful before buying a discouned plan. They will generally have a very limited number of dentists who accept the plan and you may be faced with choosing from a few dentists that you just don't like at all. Check the list before you buy. Check all the terms of the plan before you buy.

Reply:I swear, I'm going to make it my mission in life to follow these "Ameriplan" spammers around and report them whenever they attempt to blatantly advertise their cheesy "discount" plans.
[/rant]
These so-called discount plans are a multi-level marketing scheme. It will cost far more to buy than the discounts will give you, PLUS what Dr. Sam said above - Good luck finding a dentist you like who will take this plan.
Think about it: if a dentist is good, why should they take a bunch of patients who will pay substantially less than most everybody else walking through the door?? If a dentist has room for charity work, they give it to disabled people, kids, elderly, Katrina victims...
Dentists run a business - they have employees to pay, overhead expenses, families to feed. If they could afford to write off 25% or more from their regular fees, why not just lower fees across the board? Patients would be flocking in to see them.
As it is, there is a certain ratio of fees-to-costs to consider. If you take out 25% or more, it has to come from somewhere. Cheaper labs? Lower wages? Low-rent district? Skip that continuing education class? Cut-rate supplies? What part of the quality dentistry are you willing to give up?
If this "Ameriplan" was such a good product, why do the sellers need to violate the anti-advertising rules of Yahoo! to promote it?
Thank you all. Ann.

I am looking for a good health and dental insurance plan can n e one help?
i am needing to get a good but cheap healthcare plan but more than n e thing i need a better dental plan for my daughter. she is five and she is missing two of her teeth wich the dentist says will never come in and she has already been told that as soon as she looses all of her baby teeth she will have to have braces and then dental implants where the two teeth are missing. so we need some really good insurance because this is going to cost me a fortune if not.
I am looking for a good health and dental insurance plan can n e one help?
I sympathise with your daughter's situation. The best dental plan
for implants and braces is eHealthPlus. You will save
between 25%-60%. Check it out. Make sure you have
dentists near by that participate.
Reply:I have never heard of a dental plan covering implants or orthodontist work. I would call and talk to an Orthodontist and see what payment plans they have available. Most will work out payments over time..as braces, retainers etc..would be a process and not an overnight procedure.

Is £29 a month reasonable for a dental plan?
My dentist has just informed me he is no longer doing dental work for the NHS. He is going private and wants me to take out a dental plan at £29 per month. Does this sound about right?
Is £29 a month reasonable for a dental plan?
My dentist is private,i pay £14 a month and that gets me 2 free check ups and 2 free visits to hygenist a year plus 20% off every visit..maybe yours entitles you to more fee treatments?
Reply:oh yes where did you find this plan?
Reply:I AM NHS AND I PAY £43 ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS REGARDLESS WHAT I NEED DOING WEATHER I NEED 10 FILLINGS OR NONE,I THINK THIS IS VERY GOOD
Reply:it completely depends on your teeth i'm sure?
my dentist put me into a specific category (a pretty high one as i have good teeth) which is going to cost me £16 a month. he's with denplan.
Reply:It doesn't sound reasonable to me, but you have to decide for yourself - I have private dental care, and spend less than this (almost £350 per year) and see my dentist as %26amp; when - we agree it between ourselves.

Is anyone familiar with theTricare Dental Plan??
I was just curious how the co-pay works. I am needed to have 2 wisdom teeth extracted and I am trying to figure out how much it is probably going to cost. If anyone is familiar with the Tricare dental plan through United Concordia can you please help me out? I would call them but the last time I did I was on hold for 20 minutes. Thanks!
Is anyone familiar with theTricare Dental Plan??
What you have to pay is dependent on your husband's rank. I had to have a tooth pulled and I had to pay $46 out of pocket. Call you dentist's office. They should be able to tell you UPFRONT how much you will have to pay when you go on. I've had Tricare Dental for YEARS and I've always called ahead to find out what I had to pay so I wouldn't be surprised. Don't bother calling United Concordia direct. I don't think anyone actually works there :0)
Reply:I hate calling for tri care stuff.
One of my kids just had two teeth pulled and we paid 80 bucks for the whole experience. I know they weren't wisdom teeth...Hope that helps a little.
OH, sorry. we paid when the bill came for what wasn't covered under the program.
Reply:I believe that you have to pay 20%. At least, that was the deductible last time I checked.
You can find all the info you need here: http://www.tricaredentalprogram.com/tdpt...
Good luck with the wisdom teeth. It cost me a little more, but I opted to be put under. Also, stock up on motrin, it helps so much more than just the pain killers.
Reply:anywhere from 60-80% will be covered. your best bet is to call your dentist aheadof time and ask for an estimated bill, especially if they require paymnet at time of service.
my dentist is very good about calling up UCCI and getting actual numbers. They must have a special direct line, since they are never on hold.
Reply:I had my done through united concordia for active duty and it cost me a little over $400 when it was all done. It will be a little different with different dentists though.
Reply:They get you after you have the precedure done. I recently had to have an old filling replaced and was told that it would be totally covered. But then I got a bill for $130 b/c I chose a tooth colored filling...even though that's what I asked about when checking to see what was covered! Good luck finding anything out....I've found that when dealing with ANY insurance (be it civilian run or govt run) it's going to be about an hour of your life wasted.
Reply:Your dentist can submit a treatment plan in advance and get a list of costs that will be covered and costs you must pay.
Reply:my son had his thooth pulled they payed 100% back.
I will get mine pulled 2 morrow and i`m pretty sure i will get it back too.
I know the shots they will not pay at all.
I always had to pay them 100%.
Reply:tricare sucks when you are trying to get answers...i had some wisdom teeth pulled not too long ago...first of all, you need to make sure its a doctor who accepts tricare or tricare approves of them, otherwise you will pay everything....my dentist actually had to put me fully under because i have a problem with my jaw, if i have my jaw open for too long, it gets sore and gets stuck...so i was completely sedated....i only paid a $400 co-pay for the whole thing...it seemed like a lot of money to dish out but when i saw the final bill, the $400 was nothing...
United Concordia has a website...just do a search for it....it should list on there what providers are covered in your area and what the costs should roughly be
Reply:My hubby is active duty as well. I looked into United Concordia, but just didn't feel like shelling out this kind of money for dental insurance when I have good teeth. Our dependants have benefits through Ameriplan. They're a company out there that helps people who do not have and need affordable dental benefits. It includes all basic things and then surgery, crowns, even orthodontics. There's no high premiums, deductibles, co-pays, waiting periods, or anything like that at all. They can save you up to 80% on your out of pocket expenses for a very small fee every month. It ends up saving you a lot of $$ over traditional insurance. Try this website and you can check out the specifics and providers in your area. http://www.everyonebenefits.com/40424269... They are wonderful. I am very happy with them. Hope you find what you need. Please email me if you have any questions, and I'd be happy to help you if I can. Best of luck.

I need to find a dental insurance plan for clinton iowa!?
A friend of mine live in Iowa and he needs an individual dental plan. I have dental experience but I am not familiar with the private ins carriers out there. He has to have a private one he doesnt get it through his work. Can you help me out?
I need to find a dental insurance plan for clinton iowa!?
I am with AmeriPlan USA and I did a check in Clinton , Iowa and AmeriPlan doesn't have any providers within 60 miles!! Which is very unfortunate, since we would have been his best option!!
Does he have an immediate need? i could search farther for him, just let me know..
or you could have him give me a call with 10 local dentists in the area and within 30 days I could get some on a plan for him. (don't worry, I don't benefit personally from referring providers!) I just can't believe we don't have providers there!! So i'd like to get some!
send the list of dentists to:
erika_ameriplan@hotmail.com
and i'll do what I can within 30 days for him! have him e-mail to if this is something he would seriously consider!!
you are a great friend to post this for him!!
Reply:I've never found a private plan that makes sense - in other words, when you 'run the numbers', it doesn't pay you more than you pay them.
I haven't had dental coverage most of my adult life - I've just paid out of pocket.
Reply:visit http://theclickinfo.com/dentalplan.go
Reply:Dental insurance is almost always obtained through a group. Most of the time the "group" is an employer but there is also the possibility of a group that consists of the members of an association of some kind. That is how I buy my insurance since I am no longer employed. I belong to an organization that sponsors a Delta Dental plan that I may purchase as long as I keep paying my association dues.
I can't vouch for these websites but offer them only as suggestions to begin his search; the second one is a discount plan not insurance:

Reply:Most people look over dental coverage until they are in pain, and unless you are getting it through an employer they are usually not as good. Fortunately there are alternatives for those of us who want something affordable that offers a significant savings on dental costs. I recommend looking in to a discount dental program as you can save up to 50% and more on services rendered at a general dentist's office! Check it out at www.mybenefitsplus.com/trhonda2000.
Hope this helps,

What is the best dental plan???
i live in palm beach county florida
need a great dental plan asap
What is the best dental plan???
Look into Aetna Dental Access. It utilizes the Aetna PPO fee schedule which allows you to go to any in-network provider for this plan. You pay 100% of the Aetna PPO fee schedule which is definitely less than the full fee and this plan costs you around $100/year. Almost all other individual policies are HMO's which limit you quite a bit to who you can go to. Most HMO's are taken in clinic type of practices. While not all are bad, those are one's you want to stay away from.
Reply:Hi Smit..
You will not find one better than this one, yet if you do, and want to cancel within 60 days, they WILL refund your money..cheerfully!
No forms to fill out and all aspects.
No waiting periods
No limits
Pre-existing included
Glad To Help

What is a free dental plan?
I am originally from Germany and am not familar with the British health care system; I've got a new job recently and one of the benefits is a "free dental plan": what does it mean? Will it still be within the nhs system?
What is a free dental plan?
it means that the company will pay for your dental work=speak to your boss and ask him/her how it is done
Reply:You don't pay. Ask your Boss for info about your company health policy details.

What is the best dental plan that covers everything?
I am wondering what is the best dental plan that covers everything?
What is the best dental plan that covers everything?
The best plan that covers all the procedures that
a dentist is licensed to do is eHealthPlus.
Reply:You just have to check with your job and the plans that they offer. But on some real stuff medicaid has the best dental they cover everything even braces. They also do it for free because it is government insurance.
Reply:As someone who sells dental plans for a living, my recommendation would be a plan known as "Aetna Dental Access" because not only is it the most affordable plan, it also has an excellent network of experienced dental providers. His plan also offers substantial discounts on all types of dental work, even those done by dental specialists. Expect to save between 25% and 50% with this dental plan.
If you're interested, go to my web site (http://discountdental4u.net) and do some research about discount dental plans.

Where can I find a Dental plan that covers oral surgery?
I need to find a dental plan that will cover atleast 70% of oral surgery for having my wisdom teeth removed. Or find a dentist office that will give me a payment plan. My major problem is the dentist offices that are around me want all of the money up front. Someone please help I'm in pain!!
Where can I find a Dental plan that covers oral surgery?
If you have medical insurance they usally cover oral surgery. Also try getting credit through a company called care credit, its mostly used for things insurance won't cover and they will let you make payments just like a credit card company will. www.carecredit.com. I work at a dental office and alot of our patients apply for this service and are very happy to be able to get there work done. sometimes they offer a plan where its not interest for at least 18months. its an option hope it works for you.
Reply:I don't know if this will help you but you could look at this site and also look up providers in your area. You could save from 25%-80% . www.everyonebenefits.com/kline. I hope the best for you!

Has anyone ever used the dental discount program called Patriot Plan and is it legit?
I'm trying to find an affordable dental plan and while browsing on the internet I saw that they only charge $99.00 per year. I found my dentist in the directory along with discounted rates but I just want to make sure this is not some sort of scam. Would like to hear someones experience on actually going to the dentist and not having bogus additional fees other than what was shown on the Patriot Plan site.
Has anyone ever used the dental discount program called Patriot Plan and is it legit?
Hi call 1-800-929-8344 Ref # 246314 they even cover cosmetics and all procedures for your teeth.their plan is really good and you dont need to wait to get approved and any pre-existing condition is acceptable.

i want dental plan but can you tell me what the best dental plan out there? and what's the best toothpaste n toothbrush?
Im 17 I dont have dental plan were do i get an application?
Who's paying for this dental plan? Your parents? Or you? Do you have any idea how expensive this will be? (Individual plans? Over $500 a month. Family plans are about $1,000) a month). That's why there are so many uninsured people....it costs too much. I think you had better talk to your parents. If you have a job and it does not come with dental, then find another job that does have full benefits.
Reply:the plans available will depend on where you live. Try doing a search for dental insurance and your city/state.
Reply:FYI, UNDER THE LAW YOU ARE A MINOR AND WON'T BE ABLE TO GET YOUR OWN INSURANCE UNTIL YOU'RE 18.
Reply:considering that you are still a minor, your parents should have you covered on a dental plan. however, if you are working fulltime in most cases your employer will offer some type of healthcare and dental plan. although considering your age, you may want to check to see if your are eligable for medicaid. you can also check with you local health department to see if they have any information regarding dental providers and insurance plans. another option is that most dental offices do offer payment plans. for a final option, you can try "care credit." this is basically a credit card specifically for dental which may cover healthcare or vetinary visits also. i am not sure of the requirements for this, but good credit is a plus.

How to find a good dental plan?
I'm in Arizona and I don't have health insurance including dental. I work part-time so I can't get any benefits from my job. To be honest, I'm so confused by it all. How does someone get dental insurance for themselves? Are there any important things I should be looking out for? Any websites with thorough information. If I need braces, am i looking at a more expensive dental plan?
How to find a good dental plan?
You have four options with dental.
1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you.
One state because they couldn't find any doctors and only one dentist (who was on probation for unlawful activities).

How to find a good dental plan?
You have four options with dental.
1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you.
One state because they couldn't find any doctors and only one dentist (who was on probation for unlawful activities).

What is the best dental insurance plan?
I live in St Louis Missouri and I have Health insurance coverage from Aetna, but I don't have any dental plan. What is the best dental plan?
What is the best dental insurance plan?
Depends, very often dental insurance is not worth the amount you pay them. First, look at what the maximum is that the dental plan will pay out in 1 year. Normally it is around $1,000 a year. Many people pay this amount in premiums a year and thus are saving NO money by having dental insurance. If your job pays some then it may be worth it OR if the dental insurance has a very high maximum for the year it may be worth it. Most people would do better to put the money into a savings account each month. Lastly, if it looks good be sure to check that there are providers of this insurance near you, otherwise the dentist can charge you more than the agreed insurance price for your part.
Reply:I am very happy with concordia
Reply:I like Metlife! I have it through my employer. I only pay about $2/week for 2 people. My deductible is $25. My annual max is $1500. I also get a lifetime max for orthodontia of $1500, and can use it even though I'm an adult. And I really need braces badly, so I'm really glad I have this plan. I'm not sure what the cost would be if you were buying it on your own. But Metlife has good benefits, and I've had no problems with them.

Why California Dental Network Plan is so cheap??
I found online this dental plan and can not believe my eyes! It is $6 per month, free exam, free X-ray, free cleaning etc. How come? Does anyone knows about this plan? Where is the trick?
Why California Dental Network Plan is so cheap??
Not sure! What is their website? Are they listed with
the BBB? What is the rest of their fee schedule?

Avia dental plan?
does anyone know if this dental plan is any good? i went online and all, but it sounds too good to be true. does it really cover as much as they say they do and you only pay $120 a year? anyways let me know thanks!!!!
Avia dental plan?
I thoroughly looked over Avia's website and find several things you need to consider.
First: Avia is accepted only by those dentists who participate with Avia's program. Check the website to find which, if any, dentists in your area participate. (For example, in my city there are nearly 400 dentists listed in the phone book. Avia shows that three of them are "participating" dentists.) If there are no dentists in your area who participate, where would you go for your dental care with this program?
Second: if you do find a participating dentist you need to know that Avia will not pay the dentist directly. You will need to pay the dentist and wait for Avia to reimburse you. (See the following fine print: "This discount program is not a health insurance policy and does not make payments directly to medical service providers. Members are obligated to pay for all medical services. Members will receive discounts on health services from participating providers.") So while you do receive a discount from participating providers, you still need to come up with the money at the time of each appointment.
Third: What you will pay is based on "average" fees. For example, Avia says the average fee for a molar root canal is $850.00. If you need a molar root canal Avia says you will pay only $450.00. What they don't tell you is that in my city, for example, the fee for a molar root canal is $1,000.00. So, here you would pay $450.00 plus another $150.00 because of the higher fee. Also, and very importantly, if the participating dentist doesn't do certain procedures like root canals or extraction of impacted wisdom teeth, now you are going to be referred to a specialist and have to pay full price.
I could go on and on about Avia, but let me leave you with one last thought: what do you think the quality will be of the treatment you receive from a dentist who can reduce all his fees nearly 50% from the national average and still make a living? In other words, do you really think you are going to pay about half of what everyone is paying and receive the same level and quality of treatment?
I hope this helps.

Dental school around grand rapids,mi or good dental insurance plan?
my boyfriends does not have dental insurance and has moderate too severe gum disease, I was wondering if there is a dental school around grand rapids,mi that would do the work for a discounted price? I tried looking up one on google but no results. Or does anyone know of a good dental plan that would cover prcedures for severe gum disease with out a waiting period? i know if we dont get it fixed soon he will loose his teeth, thanks.
Dental school around grand rapids,mi or good dental insurance plan?
The dental schools in your area are University of Michigan (Ann Arbor,) Detroit Mercy University (Detroit,) University of Illinois Chicago (Chicago,) and Marquette University (Milwaukee.) Dental schools are cheaper than private practice, but do take longer. I hope one of these are convenient for you.
Reply:Hi! I know of a great company that offers a dental discount plan. They will save your boyfriend up to 80% off (but most realistically about 50%) Some services are 80% discounted though...The best part is that there is no deductible, and no waiting period, so he can enroll tommorrow, and then go to a participating provider the same day! All he needs to do is write down the member number he is given upon enrollment. (You will get an actual card in the mail, but you dont have to wait for it to come before he goes to the dentist) Also, you can do a provider search to find the closest dentist to you...There are over 150,000 dentists, in every state, so there should be one within 30 miles of your town. Also, the plans are just $11.95/mo for an individual, so its super affordable! You also get a discount on prescriptions, vision, and chiropractic as part of the plan, FREE of charge! It is great... I saved over $40 the first month on just 2 of my sons prescriptions! If you are interested, please just send me a quick email and I will give you the website. I am afraid that if I post it here, that I will get flagged! ;0( Just send me an email though, and you can get hooked up tonight or tommorrow! Thanks, Stacy

A good dental plan for orthodontics for a child in Nevada?
My granddaughter is 10 and needs orthodontic work in Las Vegas.
Her mother has a dental plan but it doesn't cover much.
Can anyone recommend a good plan that covers significant orthodontic work in Nevada?
Or can anyone recommend an insurance agent in Nevada that could handle this?
A good dental plan for orthodontics for a child in Nevada?
I know most dental plans don't have great coverage for orthodontics
Reply:They ALL cover very little or no orthodontic work. It's costly and most children don't follow the dentist's instructions, so it's a waste of money. If it's so serious that she's having trouble eating or doing other necessary daily activities that involve use of her mouth, your medical plan may cover it, but it's no gaurentee. Orthodontics are viewed as cosmetic only.

I need a dental plan!! ASAP.?
Hi, I need a dental plan for myself. I run a very small buisness and am a single male, mid 20's no family. I'm in need of a basic dental plan. Any ideas? Prefer one out of Tampa, Fla (or one that will work in Tampa.
I need a dental plan!! ASAP.?
There are a number of possiblities as a self employed individual!
Please educate yourself however
about all of them and how to use them. That way, you will
not just be paying money to the co. and get nothing in return.
Let us know if you have further questions. Or email.
Reply:I heard that , oh never mind, I forgot the name of the plan and you live in Florida, so I think they were only for the west coastal states anyway...... Someone will be able to help you on here, I'm sure ....Good-Luck!
Reply:I'm sorry to say, there is no such thing as a good individual dental plan.
The only way a dental carrier can make a profit is if they take in more in premiums than they pay out in claims. Selling a plan to a large group is profitable only because not everyone in the group will use it.
An individual WILL certainly use it, so there is no reasonable way for the insurance company to make money, unless they charge as much for the plan as they pay out - more in fact.
Last time I heard, there is nobody giving away free money. The best thing you can do is put some money aside in a savings plan and pay cash for your visits. Most dentists will give a small discount if they don't have to file claims or wait for the insurance to pay.
If your small business expands to 10 or more employees, you may be able to buy a group plan that includes dental.

The above site has numerous companies providing a dental cost share plan: i.e. they agree to pay a particular set rate or percentage of the procedure if you go to participating dentists within their network. The site offers plan comparisons and lists the shared cost rates.
http://www.deltadentalca.org/index.html
The parent company is Delta Dental. However, the plan is not inexpensive for the HMO dental insurance.
Reply:By far the best site is dentalplans.com. What you will get for a one-time yearly fee is a network of dentists in your area that agree to work for significantly reduced rates. You can prequalify the particular network to see which dentists in your area accept the plans, and then even call the dentists to see exactly what their prices will be if you are are on the plan. There are several competing "networks", so take your time to pick the one that makes financial sense. I used one of their plans a few years ago when I needed surgery, and the plan cost me $79 for the year, and it reduced the cost of the surgery by 40%. there was no waiting period, and the surgeon was one of those recommended by my general dentist.
they also have excellent telephone support... call them to ask for help with terminology. You can do this even before becoming a member of one of the plans.
Good luck
