Are there dental Insurance plans that can be activated in less than 30 days?

I've run into a situation where I need ti buy insurance asap and get in. I'm not so keen on the discount plans but that seems to be all I can do.

I'd like to ask a dentist a few questions. I'm new to my state and do not yet have a dentist here. I've chipped a tooth and it has negotiated a crown. It's sensitive but not super painful. please help point me in a good direction.

Are there dental Insurance plans that can be activated in less than 30 days?
Only Discount Dental Plans seem to available. My Physician has refer ed me to a Dentist, who was willing to the the work without a discount plan. That saved me the over hundred dollars for the yearly fee,(for the Discount Plan) and for that price I had my teeth cleaned every 6 mos. However I only get the cleaning done. If you have time enough ask your Doctor, or inquire around if you can find a Dentist that will do the work at a more reasonable price since you have no Dental Insurance, and perhaps they can arrange some kind of payment plan for you. The advise above about the Dental University Schools is also a good source to try.Keep your mouth tongue and teeth extremely clean especially before going for a Dental Exam. My very best wishes.
Reply:I don't know of one.. it's really difficult to BUY dental insurance at all- unless it's through an employer, it's pretty much impossible (or at least that's been my experience)- aside from the discount plans.

My advice would be to ask your neighbors or co-workers if possible or call 1-800-Dentist if you have to, just to get a recommendation. Then I'd call the office and tell them the situation. They may be able to work w/you. I found a great dentist through my friend and they actually saw me for FREE when I had no insurance and bad infected tooth.. just an idea.
Reply:Call the university see if they have a dental college. My wife saves a lot . teacher is always near by
Reply:I signed up with Sierra Medical Group HMO at work last month, and they have a dental plan available, which I opted to take. If I urgently needed to see a dentist , I was told that as soon as my papers were filed, I could make an appointment. Fortunately, I had no emergencies that I had to see a dentist for.

Employers in Nevada generally cover a majority, or at least a large portion of an employees medical/dental insurance premiums, depending on who you work for. If you purchace your own medical/dental insurance outside of what your employer offers, it will cost allot more.

You might want to direct your question to people who live in your state, and I'm afraid I don't know where you live.

If you cannot get medical/dental insurance through your employer, I could only suggest that you search for a local referral agency in your area, or seek assistance from your state. And, there are dentists in almost every area of the country who will do dental work for a reasonably discounted fee without insurance. You just have to shop around, and make sure you check their credentials.
Reply:yes discount plans are better for your situation and to be honest they save you alot more money sometimes, probably because its more a month though. well theres ameriplan its only 11.95 a month and you get everything pretty quickly and you get vision prescription and chiropractic. it does cover up to 80% on orthodontics, cleanings whitenings xrays caps and crowns etc you can check out this site if you want

Reply:Most employers provide some kind of dental cover for their employees. Dental Insurance, dental reimbursement plans, group plans etc. are some of types of dental cover provided by employers. If you have one of these then most of your dental costs will be covered under them and you need to pay only a percentage of the costs.

Trying to get a dental insurance on your own is almost impossible. So, first check with your employer or your spouse's employer (I am assuming a lot of things so please ignore if it does not apply to you), if they offer any kind of dental cover at all.

If nothing then the cheapest option for you right now is to find a dental school near you and get registered there. The students at the dental school are always in need of patients to learn their craft. So, find out if they are willing to take you as patients. You will be worked on by student dentists and the outcome may not be great but you can expect reasonable amount of care as they will be supervised by their teachers.

But if you want good quality dental care then an option you can explore is getting dental discount plans - these are not dental insurance remember - they are kind of discount clubs. The company offering the discount dental plan negotiates a deal with dentists around the country to offer their dental services at lower costs then it would normally cost. The whole thing is upfront. That is you know how much you have to pay for your dental treatment. Also, these dental plans activate pretty quickly. Takes just about 3 working days or so. All treatments are covered and there is no waiting period. So, it's a good deal if you need a lot of dental work to be done in a year.

What you can also do is visit the dentists around your area and get a feel about them. You can talk to a few patients and get to know their ideas about the dentist. Ask recommendations from friends at work or neighbors.

If you chosen dentist is reasonable in his costs and will accept patients with out any dental cover, then that should be a great option for you. Else, get the dental discount plan that the dentist is accepting.

You can also do it the other way round. Find a suitable dental discount plan that fits your needs and then choose from the dentists under the plan who are in your area.

Most dental problems are not emergencies so you don't need to take any decisions in a hurry. Take your time, evaluate your options and choose the right one for you.
