Pregnancy & Dental Plan?

Why do people suggests that pregnant woman should have dental insurance plan?

Do pregnant woman use dental insurance more than non-pregnant woman or what's the purpose? Someone who knows what they are talking about, please explain.

Pregnancy %26amp; Dental Plan?
I think it's because you can lose calcium during pregnancy and this can affect your teeth and because gingivitis (gum disease) can cause pre-term labor.
Reply:Great Answer by Miriam Z. These days dental insurances are quite

expensive, have waiting periods and exclusions as well.

To save money on dental services mentioned you could

alternatively use a discount dental plan such as

Reply:I think everyone should see a dentist twice a year for a cleaning, not just pregnant women.
Reply:i wouldnt have a clue because as far as i no you cant have anything done to youre teeth when youre pregnant

maybe just private health insurance
Reply:Well your dental health is important to your overall health. There for it can effect your baby. Having your teeth cleaned during pregnancy is important becasue if you got an infection or something in your mouth it could be passed on to the baby. This is why you should make sure you see the dentist.
Reply:Really it is just important to have your teeth cleaned while you are pregnant. Lots of women develop pregnancy gingivitis. This can lead to other problems...surprisingly even miscarriage. Plus there is a bacteria that is produced by either tarter or plaque (I think it's tarter) that can get into the blood stream and can cause serious problems with the baby, including miscarriage. I would guess the thinking is that if you don't have dental insurance you would be more likely to put off going to the dentist than if you did have insurance.
Reply:No i have never heard that. Just have a regular check up or cleaning 2 times a year or more if your teeth are bad. If you dont have insurance visit a local college that has a dental clinic.
