Dental plans for people who actually WORK but don't have dental ins. offered at work?

My dad has a couple teeth that need to be pulled and he needs dentures so bad. He is in horrible pain and can barely eat. His work does not offer dental insurance. I've looked for dental plans that regular ol' hard working people can sign up for and I'm not finding much, they kinda look like a scam from what I've found. We live in Oregon - and of coarse because he actually has a job...theres nothing that oregon state health people can do. Which is kinda F'd up!!! They said if he wants help - he has to quit his job and apply for state assistance!!! I need suggestions on what to do - please!!!!

If you are unable to find traditional dental insurance then I highly recommend getting a discount card. It isn't insurance and you will need to make sure that there are participating providers in your area. He will only pay $11.95 a month and will save between 20-80% on anything the dentist does.

Reply:Most dental insurance plans for individuals cost more than they save. Insurance companies are in it to make money. My husband is a Dentist.
Reply:Check out Western Dental. They have extremely good rates %26amp; payment plans that won't take your last penney! I don't know if your state has an office, but you can check. No, I do not work for them. I have a family member who was in the same "boat" as you Father %26amp; this company was the only one who did the needed work %26amp; did it correctly! I have also heard of a company by the name of 1-800-dentures, but that is all I know, the name! I'm in California %26amp; we have the same problems that you do with the dental! Best of luck 2 U!

You can also give them a call at 800-958-5189. FYI the cost is 11.95 a month for an individual and 19.95 a month for an entire household and when they say household they really mean anyone living under the same roof. Most plans are for only spouses and children, but this one is for anyone within the same house :)
