Can someone recommend a good and affordable dental plan?

I'm trying to find a good dental insurance that is very affordable for a middle/lower class citizen like myself. Can somebody recommend anything for somebody in my case?

Can someone recommend a good and affordable dental plan?
Delta Dental has a great plan through AARP. (You didn't state your age, so I went with Delta)

You could get one of the discount-fee plans, but then you'd have to go to their participating providers exclusively.

Shop around, there are many plans out there, and certainly one that will fit your needs.

Good Luck!

Reply:dont worry brush ur teeth twice a day and floss ur teeth .then any insurance can help u coz u will not get problem with ur tooth.u can ask for scaling of ur tooth.
Reply:Not only do dental discount plans force you to find one of their member dentists, you may have to drive some distance to find one. Dentists willing to work for less than it costs them to provide the service are few and far between.

Delta does have some new plans available for individuals, although not currently in all states.
Reply:I was told that Vital Savings by Aetna is a good discount plan. Try it! Good luck!!
Reply:You have four options with dental.

1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you and actually they do a decent job.

2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. Visit a local independent agent for help finding a plan.

3. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health %26amp; dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... concerning these plans.

4. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404.

I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo... specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.
Reply:Hi,

If you have good oral habits and generally enjoy good oral health then you really don't need dental insurance. Most dental insurance companies have annual limits, high premiums, long waiting periods, minimum deductibles and so on.

I would suggest you put the money you plan on paying as premium in a bank account that earns a good interest. It can be some kind of term deposit where you can pay monthly a fixed amount. Don't touch the money unless it is for a dental treatment. Even if you pay in just $25 monthly. You will be sitting on small nest egg at the end of a few years when you really need dental treatment.

Believe me dental insurance companies aren't going to pay anything more than this. In fact as an insurance holder you will be paying vastly inflated costs.

You can negotiate better deals with your dentist yourself when the time comes for treatment.

If you need dental treatment now then get yourself a dental discount plan from a reputed company with a good track record. They offer discounts on treatment up front and you are saved from the hassles of waiting periods, deductibles, annual limits.

I myself have followed this plan for the last 10 years. I have a GE wellness plan from Dental plans. (Here's a link if you would like to check it out - http://www.a1-dental-insurance.com). I am quite satisfied with it.

Also, I have accumulated $3300 dollars in my dental treatment account.
